HUGH Grant looks to be taking on his most sinister role yet in a brand new horror movie.

Titled Heretic, the film comes from the same team behind the runaway hit horror franchise A Quiet Place.

Writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods developed the movie following their success in the horror genre.

The first trailer for the eerie flick has now given fans a first chance to see Hugh in action.

The plot of the film follows the story of two Mormon missionaries who try to convince a peculiar man to join them in their beliefs.

Hugh will play the antagonist in the psychological film but it becomes quite clear that he has a more sinister side to him lurking beneath.

As the two young girls, played by actresses Chloe East and Sophie Thatcher, find themselves heading inside Hugh's character, Mr. Reed's home, he soon traps them in.

They will be kept in his house against their will as they become part of a creepy cat-and-mouse game with Mr. Reed.

Tying into the plot surrounding their faith, Mr. Reed can be heard saying: "I won't keep you, if you choose to leave. But I want you to choose which door to go through based on your faith."

No other cast members or plot details have been revealed as of yet with audiences set to be in for a rather scary surprise when the film launches.

It is currently scheduled to be released Stateside on November 15 with a UK release date following a week later.

The role is worlds away from Hugh's various different previous roles with the actor having rarely stepped into the horror genre.

It isn't his only upcoming role on the horizon with the star heading back to one of his most beloved movies.

Hugh will be playing Daniel Cleaver in the upcoming Bridget Jones movie, Mad About The Boy.

The new instalment of Bridget Jones's Diary will follow the third book in the series by Helen Fielding.

It tracks the unlucky-in-love character as she deals with the death of her beloved Mark Darcy (who is played by Colin Firth in the films).

Now, she has to navigate life without him as she raises their two children.

This is made all the more difficult with a new man in her life, and the return of her philandering ex, Daniel Cleaver, played by Hugh.
