USUALLY people know what they are getting into with a FromSoftware game.

The developer of Dark Souls is known for creating very challenging games, and that’s what fans buy them for.

This was the case with Elden Ring, but people have complained that the recently released DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, took things too far.

FromSoftware has listened to player’s feedback and has released an update with a number of difficulty adjustments.

In particular, the first half of the game has been made significantly easier as this is the section most people have complained about.

It is possible that players haven’t complained as much about the second half of the DLC because they haven’t been able to reach it yet.

With Shadow of the Erdtree FromSoftware changes the way characters level up.

The enemies are scaled to your level, meaning higher level players are not effectively stronger.

Instead, players have to collect and use Scadutree Fragments, which will boost attack and negate damage.

The latest patch increases their level of efficiency, meaning you need to use fewer fragments for the same amount of power increase.

This is the main change in the patch, as it seems FromSoftware felt that it had to immediately address the issues people were having with the difficulty.

If you want to play Shadow of the Erdtree as FromSoftware originally intended, make sure that auto updates are turned off on your console.

This should prevent the patch from being implemented, though auto update will also not trigger if your console is not connected to the internet.
