Inspiration for baby names can come from all sorts of places.

When it comes to naming a baby, there's a seemingly endless list of monikers to choose from, and inspiration can strike from anywhere. Maybe you want to name your little one after a character in your favourite film or TV series, or perhaps an influential figure in your life. Some of us even want to honour late family members like grandparents by naming our children after them.

But one woman has been left baffled as her husband told her he wants to name their son after someone very close to his heart - himself. What's more, he doesn't just demand his son to have the same middle name as him but wants their entire moniker to be exactly the same.

The mum-to-be said she's due to give birth in a couple of weeks, and she and her husband are still discussing their son's name. He told her he could "choose the first name" of the tot as long as he got free rein over the middle name. The mum agreed but started to have doubts when her husband told her what he wanted the middle name to be.

Using fake names to protect their anonymity, the woman explained on Reddit that if her husband's full name was Patrick Alexander Smith, then he would want his son to be called Oliver Patrick Alexander Smith.

The mum argued her husband should pick one of his names to give to their son, and said she's "not a big fan" of his plan for "many reasons".

Listing some of her concerns, she said: "He does not come from a line of people with his name, he is not a junior in any shape or form. He is not royalty and I find it bizarre. We live in Australia, this is not a common place thing to do, I don't know how the child would feel about being named after his dad like that."

The woman said she finds it "narcissistic" to name your baby entirely after yourself, and clarified her husband only wants to do this so he can call his kid "Junior" - which she believes he could do with just one middle name.

Commenters on the post were split over the issue. Many said the dad's request didn't seem "too weird" to them, but most also noted a child's name should be something both parents agree on.

One person said: "If both partners don’t agree on the name, it's out, no arguments, full stop. This is a mutual decision and you're not on board. His pouting shouldn't be the reason he gets to be happy and you don't."

Another added: "I think it's bizarre too. You’re not vetoing the whole name, you’re just suggesting it become more reasonable and less weird. The suggestions you made seem more reasonable.
