BBC reveal Olympics team with Jess Ennis-Hill, Laura Kenny & First Dates star

SPORTING icons Jessica Ennis-Hill, Laura Kenny and Michael Johnson are among several stars lined up by the BBC to cover this summer's Olympic Games in Paris.

The highly-anticipated event kicks off on Friday, July 26 - 12 days after the Euro 2024 final.

BBC One and BBC Two will broadcast over 250 hours of live coverage across 16 days.

And further coverage will be streamed on BBC iPlayer to ensure that nothing is missed.

Leading BBC Sport's TV coverage will be Clare Balding, Gabby Logan, Hazel Irvine, Isa Guha, Jeanette Kwakye, JJ Chalmers and Mark Chapman.

They will be joined by a number of special guests in the studio, including Beth Tweddle, Chris Hoy, Denise Lewis, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Kate Richardson-Walsh, Katherine Grainger, Laura Kenny, Mark Foster, Michael Johnson, Nicola Adams, Rebecca Adlington and Tonia Couch.

TV personality Fred Sirieix is also set to feature.

The First Dates star's daughter, Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, will represent Team GB in diving this summer having qualified last month.

Adrian Chiles, Eleanor Oldroyd, Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman, Naga Munchetty and Tony Livesey are set to lead BBC Radio 5 Live's extensive coverage of the games.

Coverage of the opening ceremony will start at 6:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

Broadcasting icon Balding will host with Irvine and Andrew Cotter commentating.

Discussing the upcoming games, Alex Kay-Jelski - Director of BBC Sport - said: "For the first time since London 2012 we have an Olympic Games taking place in a European time zone, which is really exciting for UK audiences.

"People can tune in to live coverage morning, noon, and night, following all the biggest sporting moments as they happen.

"We are broadcasting hundreds of hours of coverage on free-to-air platforms and our two carefully curated live feeds and covering all the big stories online, across social media and radio, meaning audiences can keep up to date with all the best of British sporting stories by simply sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the sport."

Team GB favourites Tom Daley, Adam Peaty, Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Sky Brown are all set to appear at the games this summer.
