British teenager Jay Slater remains missing in Tenerife, 10 days after he called his pal Lucy Law and said he was disoriented and needed water, before the call cut off.

Spanish authorities have been unable to find any trace of the 19-year-old since then – despite a huge search operation that saw helicopters, drones and sniffer dogs deployed across rural parts of the Island.

The apprentice bricklayer, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, enjoyed a three-day music festival in Tenerife with his friends Lucy and Brad, before leaving by car with two British men he befriended on a night out.

Jay had returned with the men to their Airbnb just outside the rural Masca village and vanished the following morning on Monday, June 17. He was last heard from by Lucy, 18, who claims Jay called her on the morning he went missing and said he was disoriented, needed water, and that his phone was only one per cent charged.

Soon after Lucy reported him missing, Jay's mum, Debbie Duncan, flew to Tenerife and told reporters she was "beside herself with worry" and was convinced Jay had been kidnapped. Lucy Mae has also said she believes the teen is being held somewhere against his will.

Who is Lucy Law?

Lucy Mae Law is a close friend of missing teenager Jay Slater.

She travelled with the 19-year-old to Tenerife, along with another friend named as Brad. The trio had attended a three-day music festival, where on Sunday night Lucy returned to their hotel accommodation early and alone, because she was "tired from the weekend".

Lucy claims Jay had left the NRG music event with two British men he befriended on a night out. The teenager left by car and stayed the night at an Airbnb with the men in a rural area in the northwest of the island before vanishing the following morning.

After reporting Jay missing to Spanish police, Lucy set up a GoFundMe page titled "Get Jay Slater home", which has surpassed £36,000 in donations. Following nationwide confusion about the reason for the fundraiser, it was later revealed that the money would be used to cover travel and accommodation expenses for Jay's friends and family, who flew to Tenerife to help in the search.

Last phone call with Jay Slater

Jay was last heard from by Lucy, who claims he called her on the morning he went missing, and said he was disoriented, needed water, and that his phone was only one percent charged.

In her own words, writing on Jay's GoFundMe fundraiser, Lucy said: "On the last day of the festival, I left alone, earlier than everyone else, because I was tired from the weekend. I woke up to a phone call off Jay at 8:30AM saying 'he was lost in the mountains, he wasn’t aware of his surroundings, he desperately needed a drink & his phone was on 1%'.

"He had met two people on Sunday night and left with them to go to their apartment. Their apartment was miles away from civilisation and in a very secluded location. He left at 8am, and walked half an hour before frantically ringing me when his phone reached 1%. This was three days ago now, and no one has seen or heard from him since."

Lucy Law 'fobbed off' by Spanish police

Lucy Mae Law said she was being fobbed off by Spanish police after claiming the force wasn't doing enough to find Jay.

Speaking to the Mirror, she said: "We need British police here. I just want to find my mate.

"He's been missing three days. It's not looking good now. We feel as though it's down to us to find him and that we're doing more than the police. The police here don't speak English and don't even have a translator after three days. I feel like they're fobbing me off. They're still asking me the same questions as when I first reported Jay missing."

She continued: "The two boys that he was last with have left the country. They need to be questioned by British police."

Standing near a ravine where Jay's phone last 'pinged', Lucy, fresh from completing a college course in Travel and Tourism, said: "A lady said she last saw Jay at 8am walking at pace. She said her brother owns the house."
