The midfielder amassed five goals and four assists in 33 appearances across all competitions with the Blades.
The England Under-21 international has been with City since 2013 when he joined the academy.
McAtee spent nine years within City's youth ranks where he left plenty of promise for the future.
That led to two consecutive loan stints at Sheffield United as he first joined the club in 2022.
McAtee counts a total of 14 goals and eight assists in 75 appearances across both stints with the Sheffield giants.
And now the youngster may be set for a much different challenge as he could play in the Champions League with Girona.
