Childhood photos of missing teen Jay Slater have emerged as a crucial major search is spearheaded on Day 13.

Jay, 19, vanished in Tenerife on Monday last week after partying with friends on the island. The teenager had met two men while in bars on the Sunday night and ventured off with them to an Airbnb in the mountains, before trying to make the 11-hour walk back on foot.

Friend Lucy Mae Law received a call from Jay on the Monday morning as he claimed he was lost, desperately thirsty and had just 1% battery on his phone. The apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, has not been seen or heard from since.

His disappearance has sparked a huge manhunt with the likes of top British detective Mark Williams-Thomas heading to the Spanish island to lend his services. Guardia Civil officers have been scouring rugged mountainous land around the village of Masca, near to where Jay was last located.

Now family have released heartbreaking childhood photos of Jay in a bid to appeal to the public. Brother Zak Slater, who flew out with mum Debbie Duncan the day after Jay was reported missing, shared an image of Jay aged seven from 2011 as he cheered on his local football team.

“Jay after his first match they won 4-1 against Rose Grove,” wrote Zak. It comes as the family confirmed this week they were withdrawing funds from a GoFundMe page set up by Lucy Law to help with the search.

More than £40,000 was raised on the platform from 3,500 individual donations. Writing on the GoFundMe for Jay, Debbie issued an update admitting "it is difficult to wrap our heads around" the frantic search.

She said: "First, I would like to thank everyone for your support, kind messages, and good wishes. It’s difficult to wrap our heads around what is happening right now, but we are not losing hope that we will find Jay and return home together."
