Joshua Kimmich is determined to reunite with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City this summer.

The German midfielder arrived at Bayern Munich when the Catalan was in charge. Kimmich has been locked in contract talks with the Bavarians for months but has consistently refused to sign a new deal as he seek a new challenge.

Kimmich, who has been an ever present with Germany at the Euros, only has a year left on his current deal and Bayern have no option but to sell this summer. It looks like he will leave the Allianz Arena for £30million - a bargain for a player of his quality - or his employers risk losing him for nothing in 12 months’ time.

Liverpool and Arsenal are also among those keen on the German, whose versatility is a huge asset. He's been equally as influential in midfield and as a defender, but Kimmich is hell bent on a reunion with Guardiola after City entered the race.

The Manchester outfit, who are looking to win an incredibly fifth Premier League title on the bounce, have seen some notable turnover in the middle of the pitch. There continues to be talk of Bernardo Silva leaving whilst defensive options could also depart - but Kimmich could cover all those areas.

The 29-year-old has won eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League at Bayern but it seems as though Vincent Kompany, who has just been appointed in Munich, is poised to lose one of the club stalwarts. Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen, but City are firmly in pole position.

Kimmich was quizzed on his future before he headed off to play in a home Euros and said: "Oh, great question. Well, the situation is absolutely clear: I have a contract with FC Bayern until 2025, so it's not mainly up to me to be active right now. My focus is solely on the European Championship, and after that there will be a conversation."

The player struggled with Thomas Tuchel, who didn't play him with great regularity and Kimmich said on staying at Bayern: "It doesn't just depend on me. What does the club want FC Bayern remains my first point of contact, talks will take place about my future. I've still one year left on my contract."

Kimmich underlined his value in the Champions League when he scored the winning goal that knocked out Arsenal in the last eight. His header ultimately won the game and the tie as the German side down the Premier League outfit.
