Paddy Pimblett sparks concern with surprising claim for next fight

UFC star Paddy Pimblett is ready for the 'worst fight camp ever' after welcoming his first child into the world.

'The Baddy' has been jokingly renamed 'The Daddy' by friends and teammates in recent weeks after his wife Laura gave birth to their twins Betsy and Margot last month. Pimblett will be working overtime from now until July 27 as he manages the stress of being a new dad whilst preparing for his fight against Bobby Green at UFC 304 in Manchester.

Pimblett admitted his fight against Green has come around at a bad time but heaped praise on his wife for taking care of their newborns. “By the time I fight, the babies will only be 14-and-a-half weeks, that’s the annoying thing about this. People are like ‘You need to go and stay somewhere else so you’re sleeping of a night’, but I don’t want to miss my kids growing up.” he told TheMacLife.

“I don’t want to go and stay somewhere else, I want to be there with them every day and of a night. It’s going to be hard I’ve said this to a few people, this is going to be the worst fight camp of my life, it’s going to be very hard.”

If Pimblett's sleep schedule wasn't already disrupted enough, he will be fighting Green in the early hours of Sunday morning as the Manchester event will finish around 6am local time.

Pimblett thinks the fight time will only benefit his opponent, adding: “I think it plays into an advantage for [him]. They don’t have to change nothing. They just stick to the way they are whereas I’m going to have to start getting up at 3:00am. Then I’ve got to get all the way to the gym at three in the morning, it’s not happening.

"I'll speak to coaches and ask when they recommend the best time to do it because I haven’t got a clue.” Pimblett has been called out by a handful of names in recent months and is glad to be fighting Green, but admitted he would have rather faced Renato Moicano at the Manchester event.

“Bobby Green’s just a bell***. He’s a proper tool lad, he’s a proper weapon. The funniest thing is he said ‘He mentioned me’, I didn’t mention you, you mentioned me first so then I mentioned you, you little sausage. I think he’s a proper s*** human being. He’s just a proper w***** lad,” Pimblett added.
