Rooney hasn't fared well in management and was sacked TWICE in five months in the 2023/24 season.

He was relieved of his duties by DC United last October, which paved the way for a move to Birmingham City.

But a disastrous 15-game run saw the Blues hand him his P45.

Roo's recent managerial woes have sparked fears he could get Argyle relegated to League One next season.

The Pilgrims were 2/1 to slip out of the Championship next season prior to his appointment.

But, according to betIdeas, their odds of relegation have SHORTENED to 6/4.

Plymouth, of course, beat the drop by a solitary point last season.

Rooney knows he's got a hard job on his hands but is relishing the challenge, saying: “Taking this role at Plymouth Argyle feels like the perfect next step in my career.
