Beyonce's mum has shared stories from the star's childhood

Tina Knowles has opened up about Beyonce's childhood struggles, revealing that the superstar "was very shy" and experienced bullying.

In a heartfelt interview with Vogue, shared on her Instagram, Tina reminisced about the time Beyonce courageously "stood up for someone" else who was being bullied, rather than herself. She expressed her deep pride, saying: "Beyonce, she was very shy and she got bullied a bit but the day that she stood up for someone - she didn't stand up for herself, she stood up for them."

"I'm getting emotional talking about it. I was just, I couldn't have been more proud of her."

Tina, who also considers Kelly Rowland as one of her own, shared touching stories of her daughters' early signs of character. She highlighted Solange's activism from a young age, recalling: "Solange, was her signing a petition in school, she was only in like fifth grade and she was out getting petitions signed. So she's always been an activist."

Meanwhile, she fondly remembered Kelly, who joined their family at age 11, as a natural protector and peacemaker among her friends. At 70, Tina continues to share her experiences of raising her "three girls" including Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland, now 43. She detailed how Kelly always had a protective streak, noting: "Kelly was always this kid that just tried to protect everybody. I have a memory of her with her best friend Barbara and her being a mediator and just being this little peacemaker."

Alongside the video clip from the Vogue interview, Tina shared insights into her parenting philosophy, reflecting on the strong, supportive environment she aimed to provide for Beyonce, now 42, Solange, 37, and Kelly.

She penned: "Each child is different! But all so special. I believe kids are born with their personalities. My three girls All handled things very differently".

"Learn their personalities and respect the individuality. Never compare the negatives , always praise the positive differences and pay attention to the things that you can brag on about them. They love it and it encourages positive behaviour".
