Prince William and his wife Princess Kate are well versed in what it takes to live a public life - and how much of their private selves has to be held back as they go about their royal duties.

However, every so often the long-time couple will let their masks slip, sharing - to the delight of royal fans - an insight into what their dynamic is like behind closed doors as a family.

Whether that's letting slip what hobbies or music their three children enjoy best, getting competitive with each other as they go head to head in a sporting activity during an engagement, or simply gently teasing one another - eagle-eyed fans are always on the lookout for moments when the pair let their guard down. None, however, have come close to when William asked Kate to "stop flirting" in a light-hearted moment back in 2015.

The couple was visiting the City for ICAP charity day - where they were raising funds for a range of philanthropic initiatives, including a couple of their own patronages. They took to the phones as they became - for one day only - brokers, and whilst Kate chatted to someone called Andrew, her husband began cheekily listening in to her conversation.

Not entirely loving what he was hearing, he quickly joked, "Catherine, I think you can stop flirting with them now!" which reportedly had the other brokers cracking up with laughter. He then continued his jest, saying to another broker present: "Sorry my wife is just embarrassing me!"

William gave his day in the City his best shot and is even reported to have ended up chatting to a former Eton schoolmate, Vachan. "Vash, you old dog! How are you? What are you doing?" William said to his old pal.

The lighthearted commentary continued in this quick chat, with William joking to Vachan: "Clearly you're not progressing with your career. I'm good, it's been such a long time. Is this what you did with our maths at school? It's good to speak to you again."

The competitive side of both Kate and William was said to come out a little that day - all for a good cause of course. As they worked to raise funds for the charities, William noticed that Kate was driving a harder bargain and digging into the negotiations more than he was during her own calls.
