Everton want to offer England and Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips the chance to relaunch his career at Goodison Park.

Phillips, 28, is at a crossroads in his career after his loan spell at West Ham during the second half of last season went disastrously wrong. He was filmed making an offensive gesture to West Ham fans after the club’s loss at Newcastle at the end of March and he made just one appearance for the Hammer since then.

The midfielder is due to return to City, where he is not wanted by Pep Guardiola and he handed him just six starts in his 18 months at the Etihad.

Phillips badly needs a move away from City and Everton boss Sean Dyche feels they can offer him a way out.

Dyche feels he can help Phillips rediscover his best form, which saw him star for Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa and win 31 England caps.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate is a huge fans of Phillips, but even he had to drop him in March as his career plummeted. Phillips has missed out on England’s Euro 2024 squad, despite being mainstay of the team that reached the final of the tournament in 2021.

Everton’s cash is restricted because of the ongoing uncertainty over the club’s ownership and Dyche is looking at loan deals. He feels the Blues can attract Phillips because they are near his Leeds home.

Leeds were also interested in trying to bring Phillips back to Elland Road two years after they sold him to City for £42million, but their failure to win promotion back to the Premier League has ended those hopes.
