England will go into the Euros with bags of confidence, thanks to the players’ wives and girlfriends.

After excess baggage woes and the headache of having to solve the mystery of missing luggage at previous tournaments, some WAGs have tackled the problems by hiring a private courier to haul their gear to Germany next month. And they have treated themselves to a supersize luggage allowance of 200kg – or 31 stone – each.

That is around 10 times the single-person allowance on most airlines, meaning there there will also be plenty of room for their kids’ and nannies’ kit. Fans are used to seeing WAGs like Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy – famed for their Wagatha Christie legal spat – turn up at tournaments with trolley-loads of designer suitcases.

And at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Megan Pickford, 28, the wife of keeper Jordan, Kyle Walker’s wife Annie Kilner, 30, and Amy Coady, 34, the wife of defender Conor Coady, all arrived with an impressive array of luggage. However, some baggage belonging to the huge party following the England team was delayed en route – and some never turned up.

This time, they want to avoid such problems. A source told the Mirror : “They are planning on having up to 200kg of luggage each for themselves. They have hired a private courier firm to collect cases at the airport and deliver them to the hotel rooms with an unpacking service offered as well.

“They want them transported as safely as possible, especially after the fiasco in Qatar, where a couple of cases went missing. They want to get straight into the atmosphere when they arrive and not be worrying about luggage.” We previously revealed players’ families will travel around in luxury coaches.

But the source said they are also keen to have the option of a private jet, should they have longer distances to travel if England make the later rounds. The tournament starts on June 14, when hosts Germany play Scotland. England kick off with Serbia on June 16.
