Eight Brits have been pictured at court as they're set to appear over a 'violent' brawl at a beach bar in Majorca.
The men were arrested on Wednesday night over the fight at a beach club at Illetas Beach, between Magaluf and the island's capital Palma, which reportedly left a waiter injured. The altercation was described by police as a "stag do" incident, with the bridegroom understood to be among those hauled before the court in Palma on Thursday.
They arrived handcuffed in pairs in shorts and T-shirts in two police vans and were taken into the court building in the island capital Palma by armed cops. The four men in the second Civil Guard van that arrived around 5.30pm local time used their free hands to cover up their faces with their T-shirts. They said nothing as they went in.
As with normal Spanish regulations, the court hearing is taking place behind closed doors. They are expected to be released on bail pending an ongoing probe following a court quiz but no decision will be taken until later.
The eight British men all spent last night in a police cell following the violent incident at Balneario Illetas beach club at Illetas beach between Palma and Magaluf. It's claimed the tourists had 'drunk excessively' by the time the incident erupted. The mayhem ensued at approximately 7.30 pm on Wednesday, May 29, when the men - all said to be around 30 years old - allegedly ended up brawling in a frenzied scene that spilt out onto the beach.
Two New York cops stabbed during celebrations in Times SquareThe group is said to have reacted violently after a member of staff warned them to stop throwing rubbish and beer into the sea as their supposed actions were disturbing sunbathers and diners. They allegedly proceeded to attack staff and police, injuring one waiter and two off-duty officers.
The eight individuals, who apparently attempted to flee, were then arrested and held in cells overnight, and seven other customers and sunbathers have reportedly already pressed charges relating to the incident.
