A TV star was reportedly jailed for abandoning his RAF post to go on a reality dating programme.

Alex Henry is due to appear on screens from Monday night on Channel 4 series Married At First Sight UK, which sees several singles meet their spouses at the altar.

However, it’s been claimed the 28-year-old was jailed after filming, as he left his post at an electronic warfare base in his attempt to find love and fame.

Following his stint on the TV programme, Henry spent 24 days in military prison before being sacked.

According to The Sun, Henry asked his commander at RAF Spadeadam, Cumbria, for leave last winter to take part in Married At First Sight.

His request was refused, but the air specialist went anyway.

His spokesperson told the publication: ‘He returned after filming of his own volition and handed himself into the military authorities.

‘He was sentenced to 34 days in a military prison and served 24 as a model inmate.’

Women’s Aid spoke out after Henry was accused of abuse by several women, who commented with allegations underneath the social media promo video for the dating show.

Henry was branded dangerous, with several women demanding that Channel 4 removes him from the programme.

When contacted for a statement, Channel 4 told Metro.co.uk: ‘The welfare of our contributors is of paramount importance and, as such, we take all allegations of unacceptable behaviour seriously. We are aware of a single allegation against a Married at First Sight UK 2024 contributor and we have responded directly to those who came to us with that allegation.

‘As part of our responsibility to safeguard our contributors, everyone taking part in MAFSUK undergoes a rigorous vetting process, involving a criminal record check and multiple psychological evaluations, before they can be cleared to take part.

‘The DBS (criminal record) check carried out on the contributor raised in the allegation was returned clean. We cast contributors based on the information we are legally able to access and we continue to review this process to ensure checks are as thorough as legally possible.’

Metro.co.uk has approached Channel 4 and Alex Henry for comment.
