Tel Aviv shooting: Eight killed in Jaffa moments before Iran launches missile strikes on Israel

The two gunmen were shot dead by police, who are saying the shooting was an act of terror

Eight people have been shot dead in Jaffa minutes before missiles ran down on Israel.

Two gun men opened fire, killing at least eight and injuring seven others. The two men who carried out the attack were killed by police. Video footage appeared to show two gunmen getting off a train in the Jaffa district of Tel Aviv and before they begin to fire point blank at people in the area.

Israeli media described the incident as a terror attack. They were branded terrorists, by the Times of Israel. This is the second shooting in the area in less than 24 hours. The Israeli Police Spokesperson’s Unit said they believed the attack was carried out shortly before a large missile launch from Iran towards Israel.

A volunteer medic from United Hatzalah said: "We were informed that there were injured people near the train station on Sderot Yerushalayim. Passersby told us that there were also injured people on nearby streets, and additional medics were there and continued to other scenes.

"Some of the injured people we treated were unconscious. So far, we have operated on four streets and the incident is still ongoing."

According to senior US officials they are expecting around 250 missiles to be launched at four targets. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it attacked Israel this evening with a threat to the nation. The organisation warned the country would "face crushing attacks" if it responds.
