The human remains were found in a home in Kirkby, Liverpool, today while construction company workers were digging up a back garden - it is being established if they are human
A Liverpool home has been locked down after a bag of bones was discovered in the back garden.
Merseyside Police confirmed officers were called following a report of unidentified bones being found in a garden in Kirkby at about 10:45am today. Officers said the bones were found inside a bag while someone had been digging near an outhouse in the garden.
It is understood the human remains were found by a constriction company. A photo at the scene showed a cordon had been erected close to where the earth had been dug up.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson told Mirror affiliate, the Liverpool Echo: "Officers are in attendance on Stourton Road, Kirkby, today following a report unidentified bones had been discovered in a garden.
"We were called just before 10.45am to the report a man had found the bones in a bag while digging in a back garden. The discovery is being analysed to establish whether the bones are animal or human."
