A 53-year-old mum who died after being struck by a car in Essex had won £13,000 on the Postcode Lottery just months before.
Anna-Marie Stevens, 52, and her 23-year-old daughter were struck by a car shortly before 5.30pm on Thursday at the junction of Hamlet Court Road and St John’s Road in Westcliff-on-Sea.
They were both taken to hospital but sadly Ms Stevens died.
The daughter’s condition is not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing, said Essex Police.
The driver of a black Suzuki Splash was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
The woman, aged 31, was taken into custody for questioning.
Ms Stevens, from Westcliff, scooped £13,305 some months ago, according to the Echo.
She was interviewed by the publication in January, weeks after the win, when she spent almost the entire winnings on her family’s pet dog Paul after he ‘ingested poison’ at the park.

Despite the huge vet bills, Paul passed away from kidney failure a few days later.
She said at the time: ‘Vets are convinced it was poison. I don’t want anyone going through the heartache that we went through.
‘I used all my winnings from the postcode lottery, and we lost our dog, he was beautiful.’
Ms Stevens’ family are being supported by specialist officers.
Police are appealing for any witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of the accident to get in touch.
