A British tourist has passed away in India following a tragic incident while trekking in the country’s mountains.

The man was walking in the Dhauladhar mountains in Himachal Pradesh, near the Himalayas, when he reportedly fell to his death. According to local reports, the man slipped while descending from Triund, a small town 2,800m high, which is popular with trekkers.

After the fall, the man’s friend immediately returned to the village to seek help, and a team of rescuers was immediately dispatched. Sadly, the man’s injuries were too severe, and he died on Monday after being recovered for medical treatment.

His companion on the trek also sustained injuries to his ribs in the incident, local media reports. Local police said the men had been trekking despite a ban on high-altitude pursuits during the winter season.
