In the US, a Minnesota Senate legislator was arrested after proposing a bill with his colleagues that would require the state to classify "immediate aversion to Trump" as a mental illness.
This was reported by local police.
Minnesota Senator Justin Eichorn was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly involving a minor in prostitution. He believed he was talking to a 17-year-old girl, but was instead communicating with detectives from the Bloomington Police Department.
On March 17, a detective arranged a meeting with the man. He was spotted arriving in the area in a pickup truck. Eichorn was arrested by Bloomington police officers near his vehicle.
He was later placed in the Bloomington Police Department jail and will be transferred to the Hennepin County jail.
The Hennepin County prosecutor’s office is expected to file charges for the criminal offense of engaging a minor in prostitution.
"If you’re a 40-year-old man who comes to our area to have sex with someone’s child, rest assured, we will lock you up," said Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges.
According to The Guardian, Minnesota Republican senators have called for Eichorn’s resignation, stating that these reports are shocking.
Eichorn is one of five sponsors of a bill introduced this week that would classify "Trump derangement syndrome" as a mental illness.
It was also reported that French Member of the European Parliament Raphael Glucksman believes the US should return the Statue of Liberty to France, a gift from Paris in the 19th century.
Glucksman has previously criticized the current US administration: in February, he compared the conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin to the Munich Agreement of 1938.
