Real Madrid and Croatia star midfielder Luka Modrić has invested in Welsh club Swansea City, becoming a co-owner.
This was announced on Swansea’s official website.
In his statement, Modrić said he sees great potential in Swansea and aims to help the club achieve top results.
“This is a fantastic opportunity. Swansea has a strong identity, an incredible fan base, and the ambition to compete at the highest level. Having played at the top level myself, I believe I can bring valuable experience to the club. My goal is to support the club’s growth in a positive direction and help build an exciting future,” said Modrić.
Currently, Swansea sits 12th in the Championship, the second tier of English football. The club previously played in the Premier League and aims to return to the top flight.
Luka Modrić is the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner and a six-time UEFA Champions League champion. With the Croatian national team, he was a runner-up at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Modrić has been playing for Real Madrid since 2012. Before that, he spent four years with Tottenham Hotspur in London.
