The service interruption happened after more than 48,000 users reported problems with the platform on April 16. Users said the platform would not load via the app or desktop and that they could not listen to songs or search for them.

‘We are aware of the outage and working to resolve it as soon as possible. The reports of this being a security hack are false,’ Spotify Status posted on X (formerly Twitter) at the time.

The issue started around 6.20am ET on Wednesday and the Swedish company sated it was running as normal by 11.45am ET.

By 2.45pm ET, there were only 107 reports of issues, indicating that the outage was far less widespread than last week.

Spotify has over 675million users worldwide and about 263million subscribers. The company launched in 2008 and is based in Stockholm.
