Lady Gaga has shared an emotional message following her world record-breaking concert in Brazil, which led to police making arrests after foiling a bomb plot.

Last night, an estimated 2.5million Little Monsters turned up to watch the Born This Way hitmaker in action. Behind the scenes, however, authorities were fighting something far more sinister.

It emerged today that Rio de Janeiro Civil Police officers and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security identified a bomb threat known as Operation Fake Monster during a raid of nine Brazilian arrests, per local outlet Globo.

A suspect was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm—the alleged leader of the group on illegal weapons possession charges in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul—and a teenager was detained for storing child pornography.

An action was carried out against the group who have been accused of spreading hate speech and preparing a plan, mainly against children, teenagers, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

It is understood that the attack was seen as a ‘collective challenge’ by members of the group to make themselves known on social media, with plans to have integrated attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails.

The pop star, 39, appeared at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night for her tour promoting her latest album, Mayhem, over a decade after she last performed in the Latin American country.

Taking to Instagram this afternoon, Gaga penned an emotive message to her 60million followers as she shared a slew of snaps from the gig.

While she did not explicitly mention the thwarted bomb plot, it’s clear the message she wanted to send out was one of hope and resilience.

‘Nothing could prepare me for the feeling I had during last night’s show—the absolute pride and joy I felt singing for the people of Brazil,’ she began. ‘The sight of the crowd during my opening songs took my breath away.

‘Your heart shines so bright, your culture is so vibrant and special, I hope you know how grateful I am to have shared this historical moment with you.

‘An estimated 2.5 million people came to see me sing, the biggest crowd for any woman in history. I wish I could share this feeling with the whole world—I know I can’t, but I can say this—if you lose your way, you can find your way back if you believe in yourself and work hard.’

She continued: ‘You can give yourself dignity by rehearsing your passion and your craft, pushing yourself to new heights— you can lift yourself up even if it takes some time.

‘Thank you Rio for waiting for me to come back. Thank you little monsters all over the world. I love you. I will never forget this moment.’

Gaga concluded: ‘Paws up little monsters. Obrigada. Love, Mother Monster.’

The stunt had been subject to a mammoth security operation involving over 5,000 police officers and military personnel, a legion of drones, and metal detectors as the fans queued up for hours to gain access to the event of the decade.

City officials have confirmed the concert was attended by millions, including over 500,000 tourists, with hopes of boosting the local economy by $100m (£75m).

The Bad Romance hitmaker—real name Stefani Germanotta—gave a loving speech to the roaring crowd as she basked in their applause.

She said: ‘Tonight, we’re making history, but no one makes history alone. Without all of you, the incredible people of Brazil, I wouldn’t have this moment. Thank you for making history with me.

‘The people of Brazil are the reason I get to shine today. But of all the things I can thank you for, the one I am most grateful for is this: that you waited for me. You waited more than 10 years for me. Brazil, I’m ready. I’m going to give it my all.’

She was forced to cancel her Brazil concert in 2017 due to her fibromyalgia condition, which causes pain and fatigue.
