£9.6 million door scandal: UK House of Lords under fire for costly entrance that still won’t open automatically

A scandal has erupted in the UK House of Lords over the installation of a new entrance door, which cost £9.6 million.

Initially, the project was estimated at £6.1 million, but the final expenses significantly exceeded the original calculations. Despite the hefty sum, the door does not function properly — it has to be opened manually using a button.

Members of the House of Lords expressed outrage, calling the project a blatant waste of money. Some peers demanded explanations and a review of the spending system. The public also reacted sharply to the inefficient use of public funds.
