Saudi Arabia has executed journalist Turki al-Jasser, who had been imprisoned since 2018 on charges of "treason."
Al-Jasser’s investigations focused on corruption within the royal family, and he also wrote about women’s rights in the country.
News of his execution has sparked significant outcry from international human rights organizations, which have long criticized Saudi Arabia for human rights violations and restrictions on freedom of speech. The details and circumstances of the execution have not yet been disclosed.
This case once again draws attention to the situation of media and dissent in the kingdom, where the authorities tightly control the information space and suppress any expression of dissent.
