King Charles initiates proceedings to remove titles from Prince Andrew

The King has initiated the formal procedure to remove Prince Andrew's titles, and he will relocate from his Windsor residence to Sandringham.

Buckingham Palace stated that Andrew has agreed to vacate Royal Lodge due to ongoing controversy regarding his connections to the convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

It is understood that, although Andrew denies the accusations, Buckingham Palace considers there have been "serious lapses of judgment."

In a statement, the Palace declared: "Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

"His lease on Royal Lodge has, until now, provided him with legal protection to reside there.

"Formal notice has been issued to surrender the lease, and he will relocate to alternative private accommodation.

"These actions are considered necessary, even though he continues to deny the allegations against him."

The statement added: "Their Majesties wish to emphasize that their thoughts and deepest sympathies have been, and will always be, with the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse."

It is understood that, although the King initiated the formal removal of his titles and honors, Andrew did not oppose it.

The Prince of Wales is also understood to support the King's decision, along with the broader royal family.

Pressure on the monarchy to address the issue of Charles's disgraced brother had increased, as a protester heckled the King earlier this week.

Andrew's associations with Epstein have resurfaced in the headlines in recent weeks, spurred by the publication of his primary accuser Virginia Giuffre's posthumous memoirs, and the US government's release of documents from Epstein's estate.

Ms. Giuffre alleged that she was coerced into having sex with Andrew on three occasions—once at convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell's home in London, once at Epstein's Manhattan residence, and once on the disgraced financier's private island, Little St. James.

The incident at Maxwell's home allegedly occurred when Ms. Giuffre was 17 years old.

Andrew is accused of participating in an orgy with "underage" girls, as well as Ms. Giuffre, during the alleged event on Little St. James.

He firmly denies all allegations against him.

Formal notice was issued to surrender the lease at Royal Lodge on Thursday, and it is understood that Andrew's move to Sandringham will occur "as soon as practicable."

It is understood that the King will also make "appropriate private provisions" for his brother as he relocates.

His ex-wife Sarah Ferguson will also vacate Royal Lodge and make her own living arrangements.
