A man’s body has been found in a popular park with police sealing off a wide area.
Emergency services were called to Roker Park, Sunderland, following a report of a concern for welfare. An ambulance crew also attended the incident this morning.
A statement from Northumbria Police read: "At 7.35am today (Monday), we received a report of concern for the welfare of a person in the Roker Park area of Sunderland. Emergency services attended the scene where the body of a man was sadly found."

Police officers have removed the cordon in Roker Park, which has been in place since early this morning.
Many people have taken to social media to express their sadness at the death. One person wrote: "So sad. Thinking of this person’s family," while another stated: "Rest in peace."

Emergency services were called to Roker Park in Sunderland shortly after 7.30am this morning following a report of concern for the welfare of a man.
North East Ambulance Service dispatched one ambulance crew and a clinical team leader to the scene and a large section of the park was taped off by Northumbria Police, which remains in place. Some sections of the park remain open to the public.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 7.33am on Monday 1 December to reports of an incident in Roker Park in Sunderland. We dispatched an ambulance crew and a clinical team leader to the scene."

"His next of kin have been informed. There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
