A person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a reported shooting in Manchester on Friday evening.
Emergency services, including armed police, were called to Higher Road in Urmston, Trafford, at around 8:42pm following reports of a firearms discharge. The incident took place near Urmston railway station.
Greater Manchester Police said one casualty was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital. A cordon remains in place along a stretch of Higher Road, and additional police patrols have been deployed in the area while enquiries continue. A witness reported seeing a torn puffa jacket lying on the pavement within the cordoned-off area.
Chief Inspector Mark Allinson said officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident and appealed to the public for information. Police are asking anyone with relevant details, CCTV footage or dashcam recordings to contact GMP.
No arrests have been announced, and further details about the victim or suspects have not yet been released.
