The Dutch butler training institute The International Butler Academy, located in Simpelveld in the province of Limburg, previously supplied butlers to manage the household of the American convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Documents made public so far show that at least two butlers worked for Epstein. Dutch entrepreneur Adriaan Tuiten is also mentioned in the documents. He wanted Epstein to invest in a “lust pill for women.”

The Epstein Files contain millions of documents from the archives of Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who took his own life in 2019. Much of the attention is focused on well-known figures such as Microsoft founder Bill Gates, former U.S. President Bill Clinton and current President Donald Trump, Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Dutch models Sylvia Geersen and Yfke Sturm, and the disgraced British former Prince Andrew.

The Dutch butler training institute has an excellent global reputation and trains butlers from around the world to work for wealthy individuals and government institutions such as embassies.

However, the latest released documents also include an email exchange from 2013 between an employee of The International Butler Academy and Epstein’s associates. The billionaire, who had been convicted in 2008 of soliciting sex with a 14-year-old girl, was at the time searching for a “director of residences,” essentially a butler to manage the household of the then-investor.

The earliest email in the documents released so far dates from July 16, 2013. Frank Fortgens, who signs his emails as “director of recruitment” of The International Butler Academy, then still located in Valkenburg, responds to an email from Richard Kahn. Kahn was Epstein’s personal accountant and, after his death, one of his heirs. Fortgens thanks Kahn for his “trust in our organization” and offers to help search for “the right person.”

On July 30, 2013, Kahn asked for the résumés of candidates. Two days later, on August 1, Fortgens sent a “confidential report” on four different candidates — three men and one woman.

A day later, Fortgens asked who would conduct the interviews. That person was referred to as “the principal.” No answer was given to that question, but another email exchange indicates it must have been Epstein himself. When a schedule for the Skype interviews was prepared, Kahn asked Epstein whether the timing was acceptable to him. Epstein replied with exactly two letters: ok.

‘I met Fiona this morning’

No information has been disclosed about the interviews themselves or their outcome, but later that year two of the four candidates sent direct messages to Epstein indicating they were working for him.

The only female candidate, Fiona Williams, spoke personally with Richard Kahn, according to an email Kahn sent to Epstein on August 13, 2013. “I met Fiona this morning. She came across as very pleasant and seemed highly intelligent. (…) Fiona would like to spend two days with you to become familiar with the property.” A week later, it was written that an appointment for a visit had been arranged. Whether she ultimately worked for Epstein is unknown.
