A seven-year-old boy tragically died after he was found in water at a golf club.

Emergency services rushed to Priory Golf and Activity Centre in Wimblington, Cambridgeshire, following reports of a child in water. Crews were called to the site at around 2pm on Easter Monday, April 6.

Ambulance crews and air ambulances responded to the emergency call and the seven-year-old boy was rushed to Peterborough City Hospital. The boy sadly died in hospital. Cambridgeshire Police confirmed the incident happened at the golf club and added that the death was not being treated as suspicious.

The force added that no arrests have been made after the tragic death and the child’s body has been passed to the coroner.

A spokesperson for East of England Ambulance NHS Trust said: "We were called just after 2pm to reports of a child in the water on March Road in Wimblington. We dispatched an ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle, rapid response vehicle and the Magpas Air Ambulance

"The child was transported by road to Peterborough City Hospital for further treatment. We were later informed the child had sadly died. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the child’s family and friends."

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police, according to Cambridgeshire Live, said: "We were called at about 2pm yesterday with reports of concern for a person at Priory Golf Centre, March. A seven-year-old boy was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later."
