A teenager and two men have been arrested following an attempted arson attack at the offices of a Persian media organization in north-west London, the Metropolitan Police said.

Officers on patrol were informed at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday that a “lit container” had been thrown towards the site in Wembley, landing in a car park where the fire immediately extinguished.

The offices of Volant Media, the parent company of Persian news channel Iran International, are believed to have been targeted.

The attack is not being considered a terrorist incident but is under investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing London, according to the Met.

The incident is also not being connected to the attempted arson attack at a synagogue in Finchley this week or the burning of Jewish community ambulances in Golders Green last month, the force added.

No injuries were reported, and there was no damage.

Following a police chase involving an armed response vehicle (ARV), a 16-year-old boy and two men, aged 19 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life.

They remain in police custody.

Several nearby buildings were evacuated “as a precaution,” but police soon determined there was no further risk.

It was established that the suspects left the area in a black SUV, the Met said.

An ARV already in the vicinity located a car matching the description and initiated a chase when the driver failed to stop for police.

The SUV crashed in Ballards Lane, close to the junction with Woodberry Gardens, in Finchley.

A statement from the Iran International Editorial Board condemned the attack near its London studios.

The statement said: "We thank the British authorities for their continued support and for taking threats against journalists and media organizations seriously.

"Iran International will continue its work. We remain committed to independent journalism and to reporting the facts without fear or intimidation."
