After spending four busy days in the United States, King Charles and Queen Camilla's state visit has come to an end. Last week, Their Majesties attended engagements in Washington DC alongside President Trump, before traveling to New York and Virginia for more events.
As the whirlwind trip came to a close on Thursday evening, Charles flew to Bermuda for further royal engagements, while Camilla traveled back to the UK. And as the Queen made her way back to Britain, many onlookers were shocked to see her strolling casually through an airport terminal, with her security on either side of her.

Camilla was sighted in the lounge of Washington Dulles International Airport on Thursday, still wearing the blue ensemble she wore to officially farewell the President and First Lady of the United States earlier that day, as she made her way back to the UK.
One onlooker filmed the moment the Queen walked by and posted it to Instagram with the caption: “Just the Queen casually walking past me at the airport.” The post was quickly flooded with comments, as one person praised the lack of "fuss and drama" in the exit, while others admired her "unruffled and relaxed" demeanor.

Camilla’s US exit was a lot more subdued than the King’s, as he arrived at the Joint Base Andrews military base in Maryland on board Donald Trump’s helicopter, arriving to an honor guard.
Charles was met by Chief of Protocol at the US Ambassador Monica Crowley and UK Ambassador Christian Turner, who officially farewelled the monarch before he boarded the plane to Bermuda.
The King was given an armed forces full honor cordon, red carpet, and music by the US Air Force Band. He waved from the top of the plane steps, before disappearing inside to end his US visit.
Queen Camilla also received praise elsewhere during the state visit, as President Trump paid her a compliment out the front of the White House during Their Majesties’ departure.
The King and Queen formally farewelled Donald and Melania Trump on Wednesday in Washington DC. As the Trumps greeted Charles and Camilla as they arrived by car on the South Portico, the US leader and the monarch exchanged pleasantries and compliments before they headed inside the White House to formally bring a close to their visit.

And as lip reader Jeremy Freeman told the Mirror, President Trump was full of praise for Queen Camilla. As the two couples stood outside the White House, Trump said to the King: “It’s been good. It’s been important. Look at everybody,” before pointing to Camilla and saying: “I don’t know how she does it, she’s amazing.”
The President then turned to the Queen and said: “It was fantastic. I look forward to seeing you again. Thank you for making it a success. Love to the grandchildren.”
