FORMER Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has called allegations made by ex-Leicester City player Danny Simpson "preposterous".
Premier League-winning defender Simpson claimed Clattenburg refused to send off a player - which he recalled was Danny Drinkwater - as he wanted the Foxes to win the title.
Clattenburg, 47, told the Daily Mail: "I fully deny the allegations made by Danny Simpson. I find them preposterous. They are very serious and could question my integrity.
"To suggest I told a player that I wanted Leicester to win the league is ridiculous. It would have been picked up by our microphones.
"I did not book Danny Drinkwater during that season.

"His claims have absolutely no substance and I have no idea why, seven years later, he has chosen to say this. The matter is now with my lawyer."
Clattenburg took charge of four Leicester matches during their title winning 2015/16 season and did not book Drinkwater once.
The Midlands club had a season for the history books by winning the Prem after narrowly avoiding relegation the season prior.
Simpson, 36, played 30 times in the Prem for the Foxes in their historic season.
Clattenburg was considered one of the elite referees of his generation.
Notable matches he officiated included the 2016 Champions League final and Euro 2016 final.
Clattenburg quit the Premier League in 2017.
