Vlahovic 'changes mind on Arsenal transfer' after "sensationally wrong" decision

Dusan Vlahovic may consider a transfer to Arsenal this summer after previously snubbing Mikel Arteta's project for Juventus.

The former Fiorentina striker was high on Arteta's wishlist back in 2022 but opted to join the Old Lady - a decision former Roma and Real Madrid forward Antonio Cassano labelled "sensationally wrong".

Arteta landed Gabriel Jesus instead, parting with £45million to sign the former Manchester City forward, and the Brazilian has proven to be a shrewd purchase. He's netted seven times for the Gunners in the Premier League this season, despite spending a long period out injured, and has helped Arsenal claim the top spot for their own.

Juventus, meanwhile, were docked points in Serie A and are currently seventh in the table. They also crashed out of the Champions League in the group stage and Vlahovic has been struggling for form.

According to a report in Four Four Two magazine, the Serbian striker would be open to a move to Arsenal now should Arteta rekindle his interest in the forward.

Arteta obviously found the perfect alternative to Vlahovic in Jesus but he has learnt this season that the Gunners are light up top when the Brazilian isn't match fit.

What's more, Vlahovic is tall and strong in stature and would provide the Gunners with a target man in games that require it.

Arsenal looked certain to sign Vlahovic last summer after Arteta identified him as his top target, but the Serbian believed a move to Juve would be better for this career at the time.

Cassano was among those to strongly disagree with the striker's decision - and it seems he may have had a point.

"Juventus will not change with Allegri, neither next year nor in ten years," said Cassano on Christian Vieiri's Twitch channel, Bobo TV shortly after Vlahovic joined Juve from Fiorentina.

"In my opinion, [Vlahovic's decision] is sensationally wrong. For the type of player, I think he is he needed to make an intermediate step to a team like Arsenal, Tottenham [Hotspur], or Sevilla, who signed [Anthony] Martial.

"For me, you know, he has always been a second-tier player."
