The couple decided to step away from the programme for the sake of their young children, Arthur and Dorothy.

The episode saw Angel, 44, Dick 63, prepare their festive celebrations, hoping to thank everyone who has helped them along the way with the chateau's biggest party yet.

They had to collect and decorate the chateau's Christmas tree as well as prepare an incredible festive feast and find time to carry out time honoured family traditions.

Dick, Papi Steve, Arthur and Dick's eldest son James also headed to the beaches of Brittany to collect oysters for the party.

But now after ending the series on a high, Angel has revealed some issues with their famous home.

The star admitted that the French chateau can get dirty very quickly and so she has to give it a "good clean" before every wedding or event.

"Every Friday, we all have a good clean and before every wedding or event all the windows get cleaned, but that can take a couple of days, " Angel told IdealHome.co.uk

When asked about the chores, the star hates doing in the French chateau, Angela said: "Anything in the dark. Like putting the chickens and geese to bed in the winter!"

During the final episode, Angel and Dick looked up at the chateau and she said: "I just don't think it's ever looked this good."

Dick added: "It's definitely worth celebrating."

The family were then seen enjoying their party and watching an incredible firework display next to the chateau.

As the festive celebrations played out on screen, Escape to the Chateau viewers at home became emotional.
