VIEWERS of Channel 4 programme The Piano were left in floods of tears as they broke down during one incredibly moving performance.

Fans of the new hit programme hosted by Claudia Winkleman could not stop the tears from falling as they watched on as 13 year old Lucy delivered a show-stopping performance.

Lucy, from West Yorkshire, delivered an impeccable performance on stage at the Royal Festival Hall as part of the show's final where she went on to be given the honour of performance of the night, beating her fellow finalists in an extremely close battle.

The teen was up against fellow finalists Jay, 25, from the Isle of Wight, 27 year old Sean from Edinburgh and Manchester based Danny. 26.

Judges pop singer Mike and pianist Lang Lang watched from the crowd as fellow theatre-goers were left with tears streaming down their face following the heart-warming rendition.

Lucy's proud mum was stood backstage as she watched how the crowd burst into applause and gave her daughter a standing ovation.

At the end of the night, Lucy and her mum stood on the stage as she was gifted a bunch of flowers in recognition of her winning performance.

In another heart-warming move, Claudia and the judges informed all four finalists, who had initially been discovered playing at open pianos in various train stations, that they would each be getting their own grand piano in order to continue performing on at home.

As they headed backstage, Lucy's counterparts all wished her well having watched on earlier with tears in their eyes.

Her mum emotionally remarked following her triumph: "I am beyond proud of Lucy."

Taking to Twitter, fans broke down in floods of tears with one sharing: "Well that made me shed a tear."

Another echoed: "Watching #ThePiano and Lucy playing has reduced me to tears. So so stunningly beautiful!"

A third said: "WOW!! Truly amazing! Well done Lucy!"

While a fourth penned: "Wow Lucy, I'm crying."

As a fifth declared: "Never thought watching someone play the piano would reduce me to tears... Lucy... truly beautiful."
