Who leaked Ferne McCann's voice note messages?

Starting in September 2022, a series of leaked voice notes allegedly from Ferne McCann were leaked on an anonymous Instagram account.

The account - which has since been shut down - went under the handle of @ladywhistledown, which is the name used for the incognito gossip columnist in Netflix series Bridgerton.

However, the person who posted the voice notes is yet to be unmasked, and their identity remains a mystery.

When they were leaked, The Sun exclusively revealed that Ferne had spoken with authorities in a bid to find out who shared the private conversations on social media.

In March 2023, Ferne addressed the perpetrator on her ITVBe reality show, First Time Mum, and said the voice notes were from five years ago.

She told viewers that she believes that someone has kept hold of them ever since and "edited them" to "change the context"as part of a vicious vendetta to "destroy her".

What did Ferne McCann say in the leaked voice notes?

In the first voice note, Ferne was heard supposedly making a series of comments about her former best pals Sam and Billie Faiers.

Ferne allegedly said: "Sam Faiers is a fat c***. Her thighs are so big and I looked really skinny today and... yeah."

In a second voice note, Ferne appeared to call her pal Sam a "narcissistic b***h".

She allegedly said: "That's the sort of girl that she is. She's just a narcissistic b***h. She honestly won't care.

"It's an exact copy. It's just so sh*t on people that have worked hard to just - because she has a big following. It's just ridiculous. It's out of order."

Following a few weeks of silence, the anonymous account leaked another voice note.

This time Ferne was alleged to have made comments about her ex Arthur's acid attack victim Sophie Hall.

In the voice notes, a woman is heard mocking Sophie before adding: “She is one ugly f***ing c***.”

On March 15, 2023, Ferne publicly apologised on This Morning for the scandal.

Breaking down in tears, she said: "It definitely wasn't my finest hour and it definitely was a very difficult time in my life, but I do, I need to take this opportunity to publicly apologise again to those affected, obviously, the words I used were unpleasant and I have reached out privately to those people and it's very difficult."

The reality star then went on to say that she couldn't share her "full truth" yet as it's still a "criminal investigation".

What happened to Ferne McCann?

In March 2023, opening up about the drama during the return of her reality show Ferne McCann: First Time Mum, Ferne said the voice notes scandal had "ruined her life".

Crying as she filmed herself, the former Towie star said: "I have lost my whole relationship with Billie - and that really hurts.

"She has been my best friend for so many years and I feel really lost.

"You say things when you're angry and hurt...you say things."
