IT'S THAT time of year again, when you get wear a red nose all day, and its all in the name of charity.

Comic Relief's annual Red Nose Day fundraiser is back, and encourages people to be silly in a bid to raise much needed donations.

When is Red Nose Day 2023?

Red Nose Day 2023 is happening all day TODAY (March 17, 2023).

The Comic Relief telethon will then start at 7pm this evening on BBC One.

The annual fundraiser supports a wide range of charities, helping people who are suffering from poverty, discrimination and violence.

Up until 2021 Red Nose Day was held every other year, but the fundraising event is now an annual celebration.

How to donate to Red Nose Day

Online

Donations can be made to Red Nose Day online through their website.

On there you'll find lots of ways to help the good causes that Comic Relief supports.

As well as making a donation, you can also pick up some merchandise, and show your support for the cause.

Red Nose

Red Nose Day wouldn't be the same with out the annual red nose.

Every year it is different, and for 2023 the comedy nose starts as a tiny, flat crescent and springs into a beautiful honeycomb-paper sphere.

You can purchase a Comic Relief red nose, either online on their website and through Amazon, or in stores such as Argos and Sainsbury's.

Money can also be donated via text, for example texting YES to 70205 means you will donate £5 or texting YES to 70210 means you will donate £10.

Telethon

More options on how to donate will be explained during the live annual telethon.

Among the celebrity hosts are Sir Lenny Henry, David Tennant and Paddy McGuinness.

They will be encouraging public donations throughout the show, with a mixture of comedy specials, cameos and live performances.

What events are taking place on Red Nose Day 2023

As well as the live celebrity telethon on BBC One, events will be going on up and down the country to raise money on Red Nose Day.

Cake sales, non-uniform and fancy dress days are favourites when it comes to fundraising.

Celebrities have also been busy doing their bit, with Gethin Jones completing a 24-hour danceathon.

Elsewhere, and Emma Willis, Oti Mabus and Rylan Clark all took on the challenge of climbing Cairn Gorm Mountain.

Since its inception, Comic Relief has raised over £1.5billion.
