Who was Lesley Trotter?

Retired schoolteacher Lesley Trotter was from Toowong, Australia, but lived in Brisbane when she went missing.

Lesley loved to hike and stayed active by going to the gym.

She even told her family how thrilled she was to "start a new chapter" in life when she was going to move to a retirement village.

When did Lesley Trotter go missing?

Lesley was last heard from on March 27, 2023, when she spoke to family on the phone.

Her brother went to her home on March 28, where he discovered the door unlocked, and Lesley was gone.

Her phone and wallet were found in her apartment and her car was still in the garage.

What happened to Lesley Trotter?

Police are still investigating what happened to Lesley, but it's believed her body was disposed of in a wheelie bin near her apartment.

Blood was discovered by the bin area of her apartment, and is undergoing testing to find out if it's related to her disappearance.

Detective Superintendent Massingham said: "There have been some forensic samples taken from the unit complex and also some other unit complexes in the street.

"We don't know the relevance of it at this stage, whether it relates to her disappearance or not."

Lesley was known to be an avid recycler, and had a habit of rummaging through neighbour's bins to find recyclables.

This reportedly was complained about multiple times by her neighbours, and police said this is being investigated.

They said: "We have not ruled out that this activity is in some way linked to her death.

"I think part of the concern was … the transferring of the recyclables into the recycling bins, in doing that activity, sometimes people’s trash would be left on the roadway or outside the general waste bin."

Landfills and transfer stations continue to be searched, as it's estimated 22 garbage trucks visited one dump site alone.

Police continued: "The location of that rubbish at each site has now been quarantined, and we’re currently planning an extensive search of both sites to try and recover the remains of the person we believe to be Lesley."
