FOOTBALL fans believe Mason Mount should have been the second Chelsea player sent off against Real Madrid last night for his tackle on Dani Carvajal.

The Blues were already down to ten men by the time Mason Mount was subbed on with a quarter of an hour to go.

Frank Lampard's men were clinging on to a respectable scoreline after going two goals down and seeing Ben Chilwell dismissed.

And Mount could have added to their woes with an ill-judged tackle on Carvajal in the closing stages of the game.

The 24-year-old midfielder flew into the Madrid right-back with force only minutes after his introduction in place of Thiago Silva.

The Spaniard was left gripping his leg in pain and looked in distress before slowly getting to his feet.

Miraculously Mount escaped without even a booking.

Fans were left unhappy at French referee Francois Letexier's decision-making.

One said: "That's a cynical challenge by Mason Mount on Carvajal. He caught him straight on the shin."

Another added: "Mount's first ever involvement in ages is a stomp to the shin on Carvajal."

Another disapproving fan said: "Casemiro gets a six month ban for that challenge Mason Mount just did on Carvajal."

While another stunned viewer said: "That's a red for Mount? He literally went there to kick Carvajal and that was high too. Right on the shin."

Real Madrid won 2-0 after Karim Benzema and super-sub Marco Asensio grabbed the goals.

Los Blancos were not at their best but Vinicius Junior tormented the Blues defence for much of the night.

Chelsea had chances at the other end but once again found themselves unable to finish.

It is now four games without a goal for the London side.
