LEGENDARY wrestling commentator Jim Ross has revealed Shane McMahon often "babysat" for heavyweight boxing icon Mike Tyson during his time in the WWE.

Former WWE commentator Ross, 71, has also lifted the lid on Tyson's incredible wrestling knowledge.

Tyson, 56, was signed by the WWE (then titled the WWF) to appear at Wrestlemania 14 in 1998 as an enforcer for the match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels.

The heavyweight boxing legend also had several guest appearances on RAW.

One of those included an infamous clash with Austin - which helped save the WWE.

And Ross claimed Shane, son of Vince who has sold the WWE to Newcastle's Saudi Arabian owners, often "babysat" Tyson during his appearances with the promotion.

Shane, 52, has been involved the WWE as a wrestler, producer and minority owner.

Ross said on his Grillin JR podcast: "I had a lot of time with Mike because Vince, whoever brought Tyson in, because Shane McMahon babysat Tyson a lot.

"And when he wasn’t available, or he was busy doing something, whatever the case may be, JR got that distinction.

"And so we’ve developed a good relationship."

Ross, now a commentator for All Elite Wrestling, went on to reveal Tyson's incredible knowledge of the sport.

Two-time world heavyweight boxing champ was in fact a "legit" wresting fan.

Ross continued: "And he’s been back with his occasional appearances in AEW. I’ve always enjoyed it because we talk about the old times.

"Mike, a lot of fans don’t realise Mike Tyson could win a lot of trivia contests from wrestling, in New York wrestling in the 60s and the 70s. He’s really really brilliant and he loved it.

"It meant something to him. He remembers it, he studied it. So he was legit a fan and I was respecting Mike for that."
