The aunt of a girl missing since 2008 has received a chilling anonymous letter claiming to know where her body is.

While the investigation into Amy Fitzpatrick's disappearance has been at a standstill for years, Christine Kenny now believes she knows exactly where she is and is pleading for police to reopen the case.

She received an anonymous note informing her that the remains of her niece can be found in an old racetrack in Fuengirola, a town on the Costa del Sol, Spain.

It's just 10 minutes away from where Amy disappeared as a 15-year-old as she walked home from the town on New Year's Day in 2008, the Irish Mirror reports.

While her family received similar information about the racetrack in 2021 from an "underworld figure", this is the first time they have been given specific information about this location.

The letter sent to Christine claimed Amy's remains are interred in the fifth stable, in the fifth block beside the water tank.

No dig has ever taken place at the former racetrack.

The devastated aunt last night urged the Spanish Civil Guard force to immediately upgrade the investigation from a missing person’s case to a full scale murder investigation.

She said: “We had a tip off before that her body was buried in the racetrack stables. But now we have received a letter telling us exactly where her remains were dumped.

“The family would urge the Spanish authorities to take this information seriously and to do a dig for Amy’s body at stable five in block five at the track.

“She has been missing for 15 years and nothing is happening in terms of trying to find her.

“We believe something terrible happened to Amy and she was killed on the night she disappeared.

“We don’t believe for one second that she left home voluntarily.

“We have no doubt Amy was murdered and with this new information the whole case should be upgraded to a murder enquiry..."

Christine continued: “I would appeal to the Spanish police to conduct a dig for Amy at the racetrack stables and see if they can find her body. Surely there is nothing to lose at this stage.

“All we want is justice for Amy and to find her body and bring her home and bury her.

“Her father is devastated and he is also demanding that a dig for Amy now takes place.”

The aunt, whose brother Christopher is Amy’s father, has revealed that Mr Fitzpatrick has now lost both of his children.

His son, Dean, was killed by his step father Dave Mahon after a row in 2013, as Mahon served five years behind bars for manslaughter.

Christine Keegan added: “Nothing has happened with this investigation for years. The file is just sitting there in a police station.

“We would urge the Irish Government and the Gardai to intervene and persuade the Spanish Guardia de Civil who are in charge of the case to begin a dig and see if the body is at the racetrack.

“If it is not there so be it but at least we can say we acted in good faith on the anonymous information we were given.

“The Spanish police can not sit back anymore and do nothing.”

The Spanish police now accept that Amy did not disappear voluntarily but have resisted attempts to upgrade the case to a murder probe.

The last person to see Amy alive was her best friend Ashley Rose, who also demanded that the Spanish police take immediate action.

She's furious that despite a number of people passing new information in relation to the case and Amy’s, the police have so far done nothing.

Ashley said: “ The police haven’t done anything for years. If Amy had been Spanish or if she had gone missing in Ireland, they would all have done more.

“It’s not right that we are not all still looking for her. She was a 15 year old girl, and she was my best friend. I will never forget her.”
