US pop superstar Katy Perry is set to make a surprise headline appearance at the King's Coronation show - but there is one royal who may have their nose put ever so slightly out of joint by the announcement.
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, was previously said to have held a "grudge" against the singing sensation, who once made a critical comment about the former actress's wedding dress.
Ms Perry will perform at the highly-anticipated ceremony concert on May 7 in front of a crowd of 20,000 members of the public and invited guests at Windsor Castle. Take That and Lionel Richie are also among the musical stars who will perform at the Coronation Concert to celebrate the crowning of the King and Queen Consort.
However, the surprise inclusion of Ms Perry comes after the Duchess of Sussex was reportedly upset at comments made by the singer.
Comments made about Meghan's wedding dress from Katy still rankle with the 41-year-old, according to reports.
Meghan Markle 'to unleash her own memoirs' as Prince Harry's drops next weekDuring a promotional tour in the US for American Idol, Katy critically said she "would’ve done one more fitting" in relation to the wedding dress Meghan was wearing.
A source told The Daily Star: "Meghan is keenly aware of a comment that Katy Perry made in 2018 about her wedding dress and is notorious for holding a grudge.
"While the comment wasn't meant to be hurtful, Meghan felt under siege at that time and was overwhelmed by arguments with staff, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Thomas Markle."
Despite the comments, Harry reportedly struck up a friendship with actor Orlando Bloom, who is Katy Perry's fiancé, after the family moved to Montecito, California in 2020.
However, the remarks still remain raw for Meghan who is believed to have "held a grudge" after the wedding dress comments.
The source added: "I would not expect to see Meghan and Katy carpooling to PTA meetings anytime in the future!"
It hasn't stopped Orlando and Harry from being friends, with the pair living in the leafy neighbourhood where they continue to look out for each other.
A source added: "Orlando is very sympathetic towards Harry and Meghan and does reach out if he ever sees anything suspicious in the neighbourhood."
The Duke of Sussex even convinced the actor to take on the role of Prince Harry in an animated TV series before they ever met.
Orlando portrayed Prince Harry in "The Prince" on HBO Max ,despite hesitations in taking the role due to his roots in Britain - he revealed during an interview with Hollywood Reporter in August 2020.
Harry and Meghan convinced 'royals were against them' after New Year photo snubHe said: "Initially, I was like, 'Hmm, how do I feel about this,' because I'm a British boy who's very proud of my roots."
Orlando revealed the pair remain friends due to his "great sense of humour."
He said in 2020: "This guy is so nice, and I think he's got a great sense of humour. I hope he maintains that through this because they're sort of on a pedestal. We're showing real adoration to them in one form or another.
"I try to justify it, because quite frankly, if I'm honest, it's not like me to poke fun at anyone but it is done with affection."
