Who is Charlie Adam?

Charlie Adam is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder.

Adam started his career at Rangers, before moving to Blackpool in February 2009 on loan.

The move was made permanent ahead of the 2009/10 season, with Adam playing a major role in the Tangerines getting promoted to the Premier League for the first time, scoring in the Championship playoff final in a 3-2 win against Cardiff.

Under the guidance of Ian Holloway, Blackpool exceeded expectations at the start of the season, which included a famous 2-1 win against Liverpool at Anfield, with Adam scoring a penalty in the game.

However, despite some inspired performances from midfield, which saw him score 12 league goals, Blackpool was relegated.

Due to his impressive first season in the English top flight, he was signed by Liverpool ahead of the 2011/12 season for just under £7million.

He won the league cup and helped the Reds reach the FA Cup final, but left for Stoke at the end of the season in order to play more games.

Adam’s time in a Stoke shirt is best remembered for his outrageous goal from his own half against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the 2014/15 season.

He saw Thibaut Courtois off his line and unleashed an astonishing effort which left the Belgian goalkeeper in no-mans land.

Adam made 26 appearances for Scotland between 2007 and 2015.
