A TOUCHING on-air chat between dying cancer campaigner Dame Deborah James and BBC host Tony Livesey has won a broadcasting gong.
The 90-second recording sees Livesey refusing to say goodbye to his pal, a Sun columnist.
Instead, he thanks Deborah and says he has “a big warm hug” for her.
Last May’s 5 Live clip — shortly before Deborah’s death in June — won the public-voted Radio Times Moment of the Year.
Dame Deborah’s Radio 5 three-way podcast You, Me and the Big C, won the Impact Award. The show with fellow cancer patients Lauren Mahon and Rachael Bland deals with myths about the disease.
