PROTEST yobs plan to send “1,000 activists” to ruin the Epsom Derby.

Animal Rising hopes to stop the prestigious race and cause chaos for punters at the Surrey festival on June 2 and 3.

The group, which works with Extinction Rebellion, caused chaos at the Grand National.

Some 118 protesters were arrested at the event last month.

In response to the latest threat, a spokesman for Epsom Racecourse said: “Illegal protests will not be tolerated.”

The spokesman added: “The safety and security of our racegoers and all our participants, whether equine or human, will always be our number one priority

“Any attempt to disrupt our events will be dealt with swiftly and decisively.

“Our security teams will have a strong and visible presence, controlled centrally via extensive CCTV coverage of the site.

“We will be working closely with Surrey Police who will be present on the day.”
