Terrified cows run for their lives after a 'mini-tornado' hit Ireland this weekend weeks after a 'violent twister' was caught on CCTV a few miles away.

The incredible clip captured a very strange weather event as the desperate cattle try to stay out the way.

It struck Cork, second largest city in the Republic, the Irish Mirror reports.

Elaine Pilkinton filmed the spiral winds across the field where the animals were grazing.

This footage, which is taken from her back garden in Ballincollig, was shared with weather expert Alan O'Reilly who runs Carlow Weather Twitter account.

He uploaded the video to Twitter, writing: "Video sent in from Ballincollig Cork today of a possible tornado! Anyone else in that area spot it or any reports of damage?"

The footage shows cattle scattering in a field as a twister-style phenomenon stretching from the sky to the ground as it moves across the horizon.

People responded to the strange video with one person writing: "Jaysus!! ; We spotted a really well formed funnel cloud outside Bunratty/Shannon this afternoon. Must’ve been the day for it."

A second replied: "Wow, look at all the cows running off in panic !!"

Another person joked: "Them cows are on the moooove away from it"

It's only been a few weeks since a 'violent twister' was caught on CCTV camera sweeping all before it on Barrack Street in the heart of Cork City Centre - and now there has been another wild and weird weather event on Leeside.

The footage captured by cameras at the popular Tom Barry pub on Barrack Street shows the exact moment when the high vortex winds whipped through the street back in March, leaving a trail of destruction behind it.

Caught on the cameras is the frightening moment when a box of insulation from a nearby construction site is ripped to shreds sending dozens of insulation boards flying, carried by 80 km/h winds.

Tom Barry's bar manager Deirdre Hoy said she and her team "got very lucky" after making the decision to close the pub early, which meant they missed the blast "by seconds."

The weather event has been described as being like a 'mini tornado,' with vicious winds carrying wheelie bins, flurries of rubbish, cardboard boxes, and sheets of metal through the streets. The fierce clatter woke many residents up as it flung objects around and damaged buildings.
