The fire started in the Tom Sawyer section of the Island.

The 45-foot tall dragon was dramatically set ablaze, prompting thick black smoke to rise from the location across the 100-acre theme park.

The show was abruptly stopped, and guests were rushed from the scene.

The extent of the damage is unclear, and the cause remains under investigation.

“During the final showing of Fantasmic at Disneyland park on Saturday evening, the dragon caught fire. Anaheim Fire & Rescue quickly responded and the fire was extinguished," Disneyland theme park representatives confirmed in a statement.

"All cast members were safely evacuated from Tom Sawyer Island," the statement continues.

"Due to smoke and wind, attractions near the island were safely evacuated of any guests, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time," it finishes.

A number of people shared footage of the fire on Twitter, and the event quickly became viral.

One piece of footage seems to show the dragon leaking fluid before the fire started.

"This is absolutely terrifying! Love and best wishes to all in the area and hope for a quick solution," one Twitter user said.

"Praying that the Mickey character performer near the base of the dragon is okay, they were very close to the fire," said another.

Fantasmic! runs for 27 minutes.

The show features fireworks, characters, live actors, water effects, lasers, music, floating boats, and mist screen projectors.
