WEST HAM are pulling away from danger. Can David Moyes’ side take another step towards Premier League survival by defeating Liverpool?

West Ham vs Liverpool odds

Here are the latest match odds for West Ham vs Liverpool.

West Ham vs Liverpool betting preview

David Moyes has finally got West Ham to come good and the Hammers appear to be marching towards Premier League safety – not to mention a possible European final.

It’s now just one defeat in 10 for them in all competitions and while the critics may not have been silenced, the volume has certainly been turned down.

To be fair to Moyes, he’s long insisted his side have been better than results have suggested and that’s been backed up by expected goals (xG) data.

Infogol produce a league table based on those numbers (xG for and xG against in each match) and the Hammers have been mid-table in it virtually all season. It currently has them 10th.

On Wednesday, they face a Liverpool side whose away form has caused them problems since August. Indeed, it is the reason they currently sit only seventh.

As things stand, that would put them into the Europa Conference League next season.

That’s a far cry from competing in Champions League finals, as they did in 2018 and 2019, but a return to the elite competition now looks highly improbable.

To keep any such hopes alive, they’ll need to win this one but West Ham will still be desperate for points themselves as even after the 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth at the weekend they are only six points outside the drop zone.

With Jarrod Bowen back in form, West Ham look capable of getting something out of this game and indeed may be worth chancing at around 3/1 to win it.

West Ham vs Liverpool best bets

Jarrod Bowen anytime assist

After his highly impressive 2021/22 campaign, it’s fair to say that Bowen was a big disappointment in the first half of this season.

But his level has certainly picked up of late and he’s played a key role in West Ham’s recent upturn.

He has produced an assist in four of his last six starts and while the initial thought might be ‘but this is Liverpool’ the fact is the Reds have struggled to keep teams out on the road this season with only four clean sheets.

Wolves put three past them at Molineux, they lost at Forest and Bournemouth, while even Leeds scored against them in a heavy loss last week.

In short, West Ham can breach this backline and, if they do, Bowen make well be the creator. He looks a good price here.

Mo Salah to score at any time

History tells you it pays to back Salah when he’s firing and he certainly is right now.

The Egyptian has scored eight goals in his last seven Premier League starts, finding the net in six of those matches. In the other one, he missed from the penalty spot.

That’s a nod to a potential problem here – Salah may have been taken off penalty duty – but even if that is the case it hasn’t stopped him scoring in recent games.

In the 10 home games played against the teams currently above them, West Ham have failed to keep a single clean sheet and that’s something Salah can profit from.

West Ham/Draw double chance

Essentially this is backing Liverpool not to win – something that’s occurred in 12 of their 16 away Premier League games this season.

Going well in Europe and pulling away from danger domestically, West Ham are on a bit of a roll and they’ve now avoided defeat in nine of their last 10 in all competitions.

Leaders Arsenal were among the teams played in that run and given that shaky away form that has undermined Liverpool’s season, the Hammers look more than capable of getting something from this game.
